I’m Cody Lachner — a financial planner who loves the outdoors. I became a financial advisor because I was fascinated with finance and problem solving. Early in my career, I didn’t realize that financial advisors could have specific areas of specialty, just like doctors. Over time, I came to understand how important that focus really is for clients — after all, you wouldn’t see a podiatrist if you needed glasses. As I progressed through my career and furthered my professional education, I discovered how much I loved everything about the world of retirement planning. From that point on, my specialty became clear: helping people prepare for and navigate retirement.
Here are the things I love helping clients with:
- Planning for retirement and helping folks safely enjoy their hard-earned wealth
- Finding ways to lower their tax bill
- Improving their investments

A little bit about me personally:
I’m based in Lafayette, IN and have lived here for over 15 years. I enjoy spending my time outdoors hiking, camping, mountain biking, packrafting, and literally anything else outdoors.
My late wife, Julia, and I enjoyed numerous trips to Alaska over the years (my favorite place)—our daughter is actually named after a town in Alaska! Here are a few of my favorite adventures from our time in Alaska:
- Hiking the Stampede Trail (this trail made famous by the book & movie – Into the Wild).
- Packrafting among glaciers
- Camping in the backcountry under the Northern Lights in the fall
- Catching 135lb halibut in the Gulf of Alaska
